SANTA MONICANS for RELIABLE SCHOOL FUNDING
Santa Monicans for Reliable School Funding is a nonprofit organization formed by our local education community, because we believe that great public schools are the foundation of our democracy, and our Santa Monica Malibu Unified District schools must be protected from funding cuts. We are currently collecting signatures to place a citizens' initiative on the November 2026 ballot to create a permanent alternative source of school funding to protect Santa Monica's kids, teachers, and exceptional public schools. Through a citizens' initiative, voters, as opposed to elected officials, can propose new laws and put them directly on the ballot for voters to decide. If the initiative passes by 50% plus one, the measure becomes law.
